De Haas: "Joining Valencia CF is a step forward in my career. It's an honour to wear the jersey of this great Club"

New Valencia CF defender Justin De Haas spoke to the media this Friday following his signing for the Club. The event was made even more special by the presence of Valencia CF legends and ambassadors Miguel Tendillo and Miguel Ángel Bossio, as well as Valencia CF Footballers' Association honorary president Vicente Guillot. Former Valencia CF player and fellow Dutchman Hedwiges Maduro also welcomed him to the Club.

First contact

"The first contact came through my agent. When a Club like Valencia CF contacts you, you can't say no. We spoke in January, but FC Famalicao didn't let me leave. Joining Valencia CF was a step forward in my career, but I wanted to finish my time at the Portuguese club properly."

Objective

"I've come here to play and win matches. The objective is always to win. I'm here to win, to help the team and to look upwards."

Conversations with Corberán

"I'll keep those conversations private, but I can tell you that I'm going to work as hard as I can in every training session and convince everyone that I'm the right player for Valencia CF."

His qualities as a player

"I'm a left-footed centre-back. I like playing with the ball, finding good solutions in the build-up, I can help the team by playing out from the back and, as you've seen in the videos, I'm a strong defender in one-on-one situations."

Valencia, 'like home'

"The support from everyone - the Club, the players and the fans. They've all welcomed me and are willing to help me. I've felt that support when I'm out in the street and all of that makes me feel like I'm at home."

Individual objectives

"First of all, I want to make a good start, settle in well, show everyone my qualities and win. At a club with Valencia CF's history, you have to win matches and we're always going to try to do that. By winning matches, you can achieve great things."

Valencia as a city

"It's a great city. I came here on holiday some time ago. I came back in February and March to prepare for living here and getting ready for my arrival in June."

Joining Valencia CF

"It's a great Club and it's an honour to play here. Many great players have played here and now it's time to have a great season and become a great player."
